“Destination OZ offers genuine comprehensive migration advice and assistance at a literally unbeatable price”
This is just a glimpse of Australia and its beautiful land and seascape. Anyone who has been there will share our belief that there is no place like it and the majority of British migrants who choose Australia as their number one destination to begin a better life agree.
New South Wales
Population: 6.5 million Capital Sydney
Sydney is without doubt Australia’s most well known city. Sydney Harbour and its dramatic coastline and sandy beaches provide the setting for what many regard as the most beautiful city in the world. Sydney is not only picturesque but has a bustling entertainment scene, fantastic weather, unspoilt endless beaches and a young and cosmopolitan population. Dine out on the harbour or watch the sunset from the top of the harbour bridge either way Sydney has it all – outdoor festivals all year round, weekends at Bondi Beach and sunny beer gardens. There are over 35 ocean beaches to choose from in the Sydney Metropolitan area. Without doubt the most famous are Bondi and Manly. A trip to the Opera House is a must as is the cliff top walk from Bondi to Coogee beaches. NSW has much more to offer in addition to Sydney: The area west of the Great Dividing Range boasts beautiful and fertile crop and farming country and of course just west of Sydney you have the Snowy Mountains – where you can go skiing in the winter. Western NSW also boasts many “bushie” little towns and mining settlements – a great day out.
Australian Capital Territory
Population: 310,000 Capital: Canberra
A visit to the nation’s capital is well worthwhile and is an experience like no other Australian city. Some of Australia’s best architecture and exhibitions are located in Canberra and the city is incredibly ordered and planned. It is the home to the Australian Parliament and the National Art Gallery and is surrounded by amazing hills and ski fields. Canberra has a large array of museums and galleries and is must for any art or history buff. Apart from Canberra ACT also offers fantastic National Parks and forests.
Queensland
Population: 3.6 million Capital: Brisbane
This is a very popular destination for many British migrants and their families and the State enjoys one of the world’s most enviable lifestyles. You can snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef and go white water rafting in the rivers of the tropical north. Enjoy the seclusion of the beautiful Daintree Rainforest or visit the solitary inland towns of the remote Cape York Peninsula. The towns and cities of Brisbane, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay, Hervey Bay and Townville are particularly popular with British settlers and offer a way of life simply unattainable in the UK. Queensland’s Gold Coast lives up to its name and with its subtropical climate and endless miles of outstanding pacific beaches it is not hard to realise why the area is so popular. Surfers Paradise, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast are sometimes called the Miami of Australia and the inhabitants enjoy one of the continents highest standards of living. Brisbane is the third biggest city in the country but quite different in lifestyle form Melbourne or Sydney.
Western Australia
Population: 1.9 million Capital: Perth
This is Australia’s biggest State with the sparsest population and if you like the thought of swimming off beautiful, warm Indian Ocean beaches and then driving through miles of wide open spaces with some of the world’s most stunning geology, wildlife and flora – this is the place for you. It is true that Perth is one of the most isolated cities but don’t let that fool you in to thinking there’s nothing here. Perth, built on the banks of the Swan River is a young, lively, vibrant and increasingly popular destination with British and South African migrants. The lifestyle is relaxed and sometimes compared to a smaller Sydney. Perth gets more sunshine than any other Australian city and its amazing environment and laid back atmosphere make it an ideal destination. You can snorkel with whale sharks on Ningaloo Reef or swim with dolphins in Monkey Mia. Freemantle, Bunbury and Broome are also popular with new settlers. WA’s south-west coast is one of its most beautiful with giant forests, world famous vineyards and surfer friendly beaches.
South Australia
Population: 1.5 million Capital: Adelaide
This is the home of the renowned Australian wine industry and the gateway to the Australian outback. The country boasts Mediterranean style olive groves and vineyards. You can drive up to Flinders Ranges and experience the red desert that extends over much of the south and west of Australia. Adelaide is wonderfully uncrowded and attractive and is particularly noted for its excellent food, cafes, restaurants and relaxed living. There are also some pretty breathtaking beaches in and around the city. There is a wide variety of wildlife and National Parks to visit.
Victoria
Population: 4.8 million Capital: Melbourne
Home to Aussie Rules Football and Neighbours! Victoria is, again, a very popular destination with migrants as it offers a wonderful climate, amazing scenery, stunning beaches and one of Australia’s brightest cities – Melbourne. The Northern Territory

NT boasts some unique wildlife and National Parks from crocodiles to camels, from Ayers Rock to the Twin Falls in Kakadu Park and Alice Springs were things get hot!
Tasmania
Population: 470,000 Capital: Hobart
